”ANTINATIONALISTISK har ett direkt tilltal och vill öppna upp för samtal om det mest förbjudna i det här rådande politiska klimatet – nämligen en kritik av krigsnationalism och konstnärlig censur. När jag bjöds in av Ful för att göra scenografi till en föreställning om yttrandefrihet var tungan en självklar symbol för mig att arbeta kring. Kanske för att den är lättavläst och samtidigt komplex. I dialog med 60-talets queera antikrigsrörelse representerar tungan en provokation som erbjuder motstånd utan att ta till våld. Det nya verket är gjort för att visas i det offentliga rummet och vågar därmed öppna upp för ett antinationalistiskt samtal mellan de som omfamnas av nationalstaten och de som hamnar utanför dess skyddssystem.”

Maj – september 2023 turnerade konstgruppen Ful med en utställning inom ramen för det antinationalistiska konstprojektet Tal till nationen. Utställningen centrerades kring ANTINATIONALISTISK av Björn Karlsson – ett verk som tar avstamp i Björns arbete med den skulptur i form av en enorm rosa tunga, som också utgör scenen för föreställningen Tal till nationen (som Björn Karlsson gjort scenografi och kostym för). Det nya skulpturala verket har hängts på lyktstolpar, flaggstänger och i gallerior, och varit en mötesplats för samtal, workshops, poddinspelningar och performativa verk av Konstgruppen Ful och inbjudna konstnärer som centrerar frågor kring konstnärlig frihet och yttrandefrihet i sin praktik.
Utställningen Tal till nationen har visats på FOLK i Skärholmen, Blå Stället i Angered, Diö Konsthall och Havremagasinet i Boden. Tal till nationen görs med stöd av Postkodstiftelsen, Kulturrådet och Stockholms stad.

"ANTI-NATIONALISTIC has a direct appeal and wants to open up for conversations about the most forbidden in this current political climate – namely a critique of war nationalism and artistic censorship. When I was invited by Ful to do the stage design for a performance about freedom of expression, the tongue was an obvious symbol for me to work with. Perhaps because it is easily read and at the same time complex. In dialogue with the queer anti-war movement of the 60s, the tongue represents a provocation that offers resistance without resorting to violence. The new work is made to be displayed in the public space and thus dares to open up an anti-nationalistic conversation between those who are embraced by the nation-state and those who fall outside its protection system.”

From May to September 2023, the art group Ful toured with an exhibition within the framework of the anti-nationalistic art project Tal till nationen*. The exhibition was centered around the new work ANTI-NATIONALISTIC by Björn Karlsson that takes its origin from Björn’s work with the sculpture in the form of a huge tongue, which also forms the stage for the performance Tal till nationen* (for which Björn Karlsson made the stage design and costumes). The new sculptural work, which is hung on lampposts, flagpoles and house facades, also functioned as a meeting place for conversations, workshops and podcast recordings and was the starting point for several performative works by the art group Ful and invited artists who center issues around artistic freedom and freedom of expression in their practice.
The exhibition Tal till nationen has been showed at FOLK i Skärholmen, Blå Stället in Angered, Diö Konsthall and Havremagasinet in Boden. Tal till nationen is made with support from The Swedish Arts Council, Swedish Arts Grants Committee, Swedish Authors’ Fund, the city of Stockholm's cultural administration and The Postcode Foundation.
